Starting to Draw? PART 4: Three Things to Do

Outline

This is the fourth of my art tutorials on starting to draw for absolute beginners. This art tutorial brings together all the elements covered in the previous three drawing tutorials; curves, lines, tone, shading, create depth and using the pencil. The drawing consists of three paint brushes in a pot, each one drawn with a different pencil, HB, 2B and 8B.

This method helps to create different tones and therefore creates depth in the drawing. Depth is created in the drawing because darker lines look closer than lighter lines. Lines, curves (plus a link to understanding eye level) tone and shading are also covered to create a three-dimensional drawing. This technique is ideal for all still life drawing, but can be applied to any type of drawing.

This arts tutorial is aimed at beginners, children and students in school and anyone else wanting to improve their drawing skills and learn to draw.
