Watercolour Painting Basics

In this art tutorial on how to paint a landscape in watercolour. This is the 3rd in my Watercolour painting basics for beginners series.  I start with an outline landscape drawing. The landscape drawing is done on 300lb watercolour paper and is drawn with a soft pencil so no groves are created in the paper. They would be if it is drawn with a hard pencil. After wetting the paper I show how to paint the first layer of the painting using the wet on wet technique. Once the first layer is dry I work wet on dry, but demonstrate how to add paint to an already wet area.

I explain how to paint branches and twigs using the other end of the brush because it is more effective. A step by step approach is adopted to explain and how to get the tonal range of the painting working correctly. The art tutorial is aimed at beginners, and those wishing to develop their technique of watercolour painting.
